An Enriching Cultural and Educational Exchange in Italy
Last week, the SSPICE IT! Project proudly hosted a delegation of Greek students in Rome for an inspiring educational and cultural exchange. Over the course of four days, the students engaged in historical explorations, professional visits, and hands-on learning experiences, strengthening international connections and broadening their horizons.
Highlights of the Visit
🔹 Discovering Ancient History in Ostia Antica
The visit kicked off with a warm welcome at Castelfusano VET School, followed by an exciting tour of the Ostia Antica archaeological site, where students delved into the rich history of ancient Roman civilization.
🔹 SSPICE IT! Local Final Event & Exploring Rome
A key moment of the trip was the students’ participation in the SSPICE IT! Local Final Event at Marino VET School. Here, they interacted with local students and educators, sharing insights and experiences from their own academic journeys. The afternoon was dedicated to discovering the eternal city of Rome, where they explored its iconic landmarks at their own pace.
🔹 A Visit to the European Space Agency (ESA ESRIN)
One of the most exciting aspects of the visit was the exclusive guided tour of ESA ESRIN, the European Space Agency’s center for Earth observation. Students had the opportunity to meet experts and gain insight into innovative research in space technology and environmental monitoring.
🔹 Discovering Local Traditions & Businesses in Marino
The final day of the program focused on Marino’s traditional and innovative businesses. The students explored the historic town center, visited a traditional dessert laboratory (Forno da Marcello), learned about mushroom cultivation at Moretti Funghi, and met with a Maestro Norcino, an expert in Italian butchery traditions.

A Successful Exchange of Cultures & Ideas
The visit provided a unique chance for cultural immersion, professional exploration, and international collaboration. The students left with new knowledge, friendships, and a deeper appreciation for Italy’s rich heritage and cutting-edge industries.
The SSPICE IT! Project fostered this meaningful international exchange, preparing students for a globalized world by integrating education with real-world experiences.
Thank you to all who made this visit a success!
